CWC July 2006 Comments on APP Please READ Proposes Aquifer Protection Permit
On July 2006, CWC issued its comments on the final APP. We were disappointed because we believe the requirements are vague and fail to protect the community as it could. I strongly encourage you to read the CWC July 2006 Comments on APP this is a long document but it is so important to you and the future of water. The time to act is now, don't wait it will be too late. August 22, 2005 - CWC issues comments on the APP. The Company encourages that our comments be read in their entirety. The Company is proud of its track record of the reliable delivery of water that has always met primary drinking standards. The Company encourages those with questions referred to our web site, visit our office 1501 S La Caņada, or call us at 625-8409. On our web site we have water quality information and other topics of interest. CWC continues to put its efforts in finding a negotiated solution to the local water quality issue. CWC continues to work cooperatively with PD, and progress has been made. We deeply appreciate the support of the community and encourage customers to learn more about water quality issues, conservation opportunities, the CAP and challenges from growth. July 2005 - The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) proposes to issue an aquifer protection permit for the mining facility in Green Valley. See above for the links. June 1, 2005 - Click here to read the story on the Company receiving water from the Phelps Dodge Sierra Wells Community Water Company and mining officials are exploring options to control the sulfate levels in the drinking water. We are committed to finding alternative sources of water to serve our customers. Effective June 1, 2005, Phelps Dodge Sierrita, Inc. and Community Water Company signed an agreement that provides water for the Green Valley area from three wells owned by the Sierrita Mine. The Sierrita wells are unaffected by a sulfate plume in the area and will temporarily replace water from two Community Water wells that have shown elevated levels of sulfates.
